A friday with Jenny

Friday the 18th of October, Jenny and I left the house at 9.15 o'clock in the morning to go spend a day in Dallas. We had a wonderful day at the Arboretum, Perot Museum, and Reunion Tower!
This blog will just contain a lot of pictures!

The Dallas Arboretum
The mission of the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden is to build and maintain a public venue that promotes the art, enjoyment and knowledge of horticulture, while providing opportunities for education and research. We are committed to excellence, good management and fiscal responsibility.

Jenny and me.

This picture is not taken by me... It is taken by Jenny.. ;)

The Perot Museum
is a museum in Dallas. Right now it is having a display of animals inside out with all kinds of animals; dinosaurs, the human being body, birds, goats, cows, etc...
They also had a display of the genesis of the world, nature disasters, rocks, and how to get natural gas out of the ground.

This is a real slice of a horse head.

The cervical vertebras of a diplodocus.

The tyrannosaurus' leg bones compared to me.
Again, Jenny is the photographer.. Not me..

Real slices of a human.

The Reunion Tower
The Reunion Tower experience isn’t just about seeing what’s below from hundreds of feet in the air. It’s also about what’s below the surface. Get a glimpse into the history, events and people that made the city what it is and what it will be.
Powerful telescopes, high-definition zoom cameras and interactive digital displays bring the views to life and take you places the naked eye never could.

This lovely picture did the staff on the Reunion Tower take..
So good quality!!!

This was a wonderful day with Jenny in Dallas! And on our way home, we pulled in to a gas station where a party bus (and 30 other cars) were as well... - There was loud music, cops, and a bunch of people!

Hugette

This weekend, (12th-13th of October), Jenny and I went to see Bonnie and Monica. Bonnie is Randy's sister, and Monica is Bonnie's daughter. They live in Longview, East Texas, and the drive took about 3 hours.
So we arrived about 10 am, and Bonnie had made a delicious breakfast for us. Then Monica and I went for a ride on the four-wheeler while Bonnie and Jenny went for a walk. So what happens is, that Monica and I return to the house to get my camera, and there he is! Actually it was a she... So.. There she is! The biggest, most disgusting spider... With an egg sac.... Attacked by a red wasp (I think it was a wasp)..
These pictures are taken by Monica "Brave" Smith.
The wasp gave up and disappeared.. Left behind were Monica and I, considering if we should kill this spider or not.
"Isn't she lovely?
Isn't she wonderful?
Isn't she precious?
Less than one minute old"
Maybe this isn't the right moment for Stevie Wonder..
We decided not to, because of the thousand tiny spiders in the egg sac... (By the way, this spider was in the garage, which made our dilemma even bigger.. Because nobody want's a spider, and her thousand tiny babies in their garage).. So....we decided to catch her.. It took a little while before we found the perfect plastic box, and then Monica tried to put the box over the spider....

She didn't get any closer than this, so I ended up doing it. ;)

There you go. One spider in a box.
Monica and the spider. Actually her name is Hugette. I suggested
we called her Hugo, but since it was a female Monica came
up with "Hugette"... And what a pretty name!
Then we had to get this box closed, but how? Of course with a piece of paper!!

Got ya!
And then our next dilemma showed up.... Because.. How should we be able to get the cover under the paper, without making space big enough for Hugette to escape? ....
So we found this clingfilm, and 5 minutes (no, it was not easy) later was Hugette secured!

What a great job we did!!
Then we drove over to Monica's dad to show him what we had used the last 25 (?) minutes on... The actually reason, I guess, was to ask what to do next!!

Hugette was so lucky... She got the front seat!!
The time was coming for Hugette to go out in the big nature, to have her babies... I mean, Monica and I were almost ready to let her out.. We had shown her to everybody we knew (you have to show people the things you are proud of.... And we were very proud!!! ;) ), and now we only had to decide where!! And I tell you, it was a big decision, because it should be a place that wasn't too close to the house, a place Hugette would love to stay, a place we wouldn't come by..... Oh and of course a place with big opportunities for Monica and I to run!!

So we found this lovely little corner in the yard!

Brave Monica opened the box, flipped it over, ran away from Hugette when
she left the box, came back and carefully took the box..... And then we ran
back to the house..
What a great experience!!
